It has been one month I had not blogged. This was due to the intensive obession with mapling. Finally, I could take a breather and started to break off maple. Anyway, it was fun but due to my time constraint, I decided against it. I would however, occasionally go in and check out my stuff.
Anyway, with regards to what Daniel had said, I did agreed that it was very wonr of me to judge the book by its cover. The 1.99 shop model was not just a pretty face, she was able to overcome her downfall and emerged success and I thought it was great that she was able to overcome it. I was glad that I hda attended the talk and was really motivated by it. Life is not exactly a bed of roses. To emerge success, one has to over come many obstacles to get to the stage they wanted. Hence, it was great to see a true story from a failure. It was also great that she had taken up responsibility for her failure. She had admitted that it was her fault that she failed in her buisness and I thought, wow, she is really courageous about it. Many people do not take up responsibility for their actions. They tended to shift responsibility to others for one's failure. I thought that was a wrong mindset and people who did that, no matter how successful they are, they are failures in my opinion. Those who know only to shift responsibilities are cowards, who dared not to own up. I had been through and I had friends that are kind of like, once the case is a goner, they started blaming others but in my mind, I was thinking, you are the one did all the work and stuff. Anyway, I never wanted to blame anyone for my misfortune. When I am in the wroong, I would admit it to not to shift responsiblity even how hopeless the case and I did admire Ms Chong for her bravery.
Anyway, I knew I had not been studying for my common test and if I failed, which is most likely for general paper and chemistry, I would seriously need to work on it, not no more to obesssssssssssssssssessssssssssssssssion to maple!!

IT was totally insane for tommorow's GP seminar. I was selected to have a talk by a bankrupt. She was the creator of $1.99 shop and is a rich tai tai. What is worse is that she would be talking to us on creating wealth in times of adversity. How can a bankrupt teach us some values on that?? It was so insane!!!! I wish we would have some other speakers instead of her and I am deeply traumatised by this incident!!!!

There is nothing much to do today except that the tensions between me and my friends are getting to the top. I just did not want to do anything about it because my focus was on the teacher as there is too much distractions from them. Anyway, I did not blame them but could I not give you attention sometimes??????? I do wonder. Anyway, I got back my first essay composition and the remarks was no good. I was no where in the passing grade and end up a E8. I needed to do some work on my GP before too late. Another thing is that now, we are not supposed to have deferment anymore so haha, dan is not able to defer himself from the NS and kia joon is not either. EVIL LAUGHS~!

I had decided to tackle my maths these two days. It was so tiring to revise but sooner or later, I will get used to this. I kept having very long breaks like an hour to two hour. I needed to shorten this breaks. It is so long since I had to study during sundays too. Anyway, it is not easy to tackle just one subject. In my secondary school days, I took less than an hour just to revise the whole syllabus of my maths. Now, I take two hours just to finish a topic of my random TYS questions. It is horrifying. I guessed I needed to work everyday in order to get my As in my common test. My progress has been quite mediocre and my focus is somewhere but not anywhere (huh??). Anyway, after years of education, I finally realised that I needed much more than that to score As. My target will be to obtain all As for my sciences and maths. Work harder form now on!!!!!

Why is there poverty? Poverty is defined as the state of being poor; lack of the means of providing material needs or comforts. Extreme poverty states people with less than a US dollar per day. However, if it is converted to other currency,it may be a lot of money. Hence, the perception of poverty in different country differs. For instance, in Singapore, there are three types of poverty- the chronic poor whereby these people have very little education and have problems finding or holding to jobs, the transient poor, people who are being retrenched, declared bankrupt or mishaps such as accidents, the destitue people who are with no support and no hope of employment. However, in Africa, the povery lies with people with poor water and sewage sanitation, depending on natural resources such as trees to survive. In every country, the line of poverty defers and today, I shall try my first essay on the extreme cases of developing countries' poverty.
There are many reasons why a country remains poor. One of the main reasons is the unstability of the government. When a country switches government every year, there is no stability in the political system of the country. Different government will set different directions for the country and different government will have different priorities and concerns for the country. If a country has different governments or political parties to govern the country, the most likelihood is that the country will be thrown into confusion and most of the resources being put into will not have beared fruits. Secondly, when you have different government or political parties ruling, there will be different policies. The existing policies may be replaced by the new policies or are stopped. Hence, if these policies are being stopped or replaced, the resources to implement these policies will be a waste and not be able to work out effectively. Another leading factor is corruption. If a government is corrupted, the most likelihood is that the resources and monetary funds taken will not be put in good use or for the purpose of the countries, hence, development stay still. Secondly, it also leads to demonstrations of the people leading to the social unstability of the country. This would lose hope in investors and hence, investors may put out their operation in that countries and as a result, the country will plumment into a worse state.
Another main reason why country end up poor is due to natural disaters and unforeseen circumstances. Natural disaters damaged properties and lives. Hence, when a poor country is struck by a catastrophe, it would add on to the already heavy burden or worsen the situation of porverty. The worse part of it is that when the government had already developed the places and waiting for it to bear fruit and before long, a catastrophe struck that area, all his resources and effort had gone to waste, hence, it would be a very sad sad sad case!!!
The last reason I would like to point out is health of the people. In African countries, the people living there are being threatened by AIDS and AIDS in these countries are hiting the population hard. As these people are supposed to run the economy and take up jobs in the future and when the countries' health is poor, there would be no way that these people who are ill to be able to take up jobs. I know you may say there is acure to these dieases but the medical costs are often expensive and the country is unable to pull out more resources to help these people as funds are often very limited and targeted in other areas. Hence, when things like that happen, the country will remain poor and it would have become a viscous cycle then..........

Today has been the rough day for me. I kept doing things that bothered a lot of people. Maybe the exmainations heat up and they become cranky or it is probably because of what I did that might anger them in a way or another. Anyway, on a flip side, I did very well for my Chemistry SPA. I thought it was my best performance in School Practical Assessment among my physics and chemistry SPA. That is the flip side of it. Anyway, I needed to catch up on my work and get some rest for I had caught a flu lately and became very tired. My energy is totally drained, I decided to take a little nap before studying my maths later and bye!

First, today was the best day of my whole year. I had a b4 for my chinese, a feat that I was not expecting, based on last year's horror with my chinese teacher. Do not get me wrong, she is a nice lady but her method of teaching and all were not really suitable for me and i had a hard time learning chinese with her. It was a miracle that I had passed my test and everyone passed their chinese. There was always 'tension' in the class as she thought of us as people who belittled chinese or something like that. It was kind of stressful when you have a teacher like her but I was glad that I did myself proud by adapting to situation and learning from this process. I had archery today too and it was a time for evaluation. As you could have seen, my last week's performance was way below belt but today, it was unexpected as I did my personal best of shooting a 53 out of 60, a victory as I was been shooting less than 45. I also did my personal best for overall with 247 out of 300 which was the best of all the weeks that I had shooted. It was the best day of my whole year!!!!!!!!
